Tell them: "My Lord has enjoined piety, devotion in all acts of worship, and calling upon Him with exclusive obedience. For you will be reverted back to what you were (when) created first."

    Fasting

The bounties and opportunities of Ramadan are many and unlimited yet the number of days we have to take advantage of it are few and limited.

    Patience

…those who patiently persevere will truly receive a reward without measure! [1]

Patience is inseparable from the purpose of Ramadan. Scholars mention four areas where patience is required: fulfilling acts of obedience to Allah; refraining from prohibitions; bearing trials and tribulations; and preserving one’s heart and intellect from misguidance. Fasting allows us to exercise and develop all these types of patience. Continue reading

    Introduction

Praise be to Allaah, we praise Him and seek His help and forgiveness. We seek refuge with Allaah from the evil of our own selves and from our evil deeds. Whomsoever Allaah guides cannot be misled, and whomsoever He leaves astray cannot be guided. I bear witness that there is no god except Allaah alone, with no partner or associate, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. Continue reading

Allah (all glory be to Him) tells us in the Holy Quran about Ramadan that, “(He wants you) to complete the prescribed period (of fasting), and to glorify Him in that He has guided you; and perchance ye shall be grateful.” (2:185)

Many benefits, in addition to the spiritual, result from completing this prescribed period of fasting.  This article attempts to explain those related to our biological rhythms. Continue reading

In each of the daily prayer we offer, we solemnly declare to Allâh, “Iyyaka na’budu” (You alone do we worship). While the intelligent and committed believer realizes that his very lifestyle spells worship, he knows, remembering the words of our Prophet sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam that “Du’aa’ (supplication) is worship” [Tirmidhi, Abu Dawûd] Allâh, the Most Merciful, has encouraged the believers to take advantage of certain times during the year to make du’aa’. Such an occasion presents itself annually during Ramadhân — especially on the Lailatul Qadr, the Night of Power. On this night, the single most important event in human history unfolded as, after the Glorious Qur’ân was preserved in the Protected Tablet, Jibril descended with the blessed book to reveal it, upon Allâh’s command, to His Messenger sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam. Accentuating its significance, Allâh says “and how would you know (the value of the) Night of Qadr” [97:2] Continue reading

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Muslim year which follows a lunar calendar. Each month begins with a sighting of the moon’s crescent and lasts 29 or 30 days until a sighting of the next month’s crescent.

The month of Ramadan commemorates the days when the Angel Gabriel imparted the wisdom of the Koran, Islam’s holy book, to the Prophet Mohammed. Continue reading

    The Stages of Sleep

The background activity of the brain is called the electroencephalogra m (EEG) and can be recorded by the use of scalp electrodes.  The dominant frequency and amplitude characteristic of the surface EEG varies with states of arousal.  Continue reading

It is a very important question that why do we fast in Ramadan or in any other opportunity.Allah(the creator) had told us about that in a sufficient answer in the holy Quran: says( O you who believe! Observing As-Saum (the fasting) is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, that you may become Al-Muttaqûn (the pious – See V183).

    A) Narrated Talhah bin ‘Ubaidullâh: A bedouin with unkempt hair came to Allâh’s Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم and said, “O Allâh’s Messenger! Inform me what Allâh has made compulsory for me as regards the Salât (prayers).” He replied: “You have to offer perfectly the five compulsory Salât (prayers) in a day and night (24 hours), unless you want to pray Nawâfil .” The bedouin further asked, “Inform me what Allâh has made Continue reading
